Hey guys! Some of you might remember my post from last autumn, asking if anybody here is interested in a photography journey in Lord of the Ring's Middle-Earth with your work and others here on Deviantart? So I created the group yesterday and maybe you want to join. There's nothing to win here, just fun and maybe creativity. =)
The group is about experiencing the journey of the fellowship from the Shire to Mordor by creating photos based on the places, that they visited. Every folder for a location will be open for 2-3 weeks. In the books the journey starts in September in the Shire. In many regions of the Earth, the Shire is more or less a landscape in spring, so I think it makes sense to start this spring and not in September. I know, that seasons are different and spring might be at a different time, if you live on southern hemisphere. Because of that you can also start creating artwork now and save them till the month/landscape fits.
So the beginning of the journey is on the 1st of March and the journey will last 6 months (like the "real" journey of the hobbits). Every created folder will only be open for 2-3 weeks, because it's really about creating new art based on the specific location. It would be awesome to have only new artworks in the group, but I guess it's ok if to upload a photo from last year, if you reallly want us to view it (and if it fits to the current location). Some places might be a bit hard to take fitting photos like Mordor, unless you live in Iceland or another place with volcanoes. On the other hand everybody is free to photography the topic how they want. It might be landscape, but also an animal that you could see at a specific location. Spiders in Mirkwood, a fox in the shire, a pony in Bree etc. Please try to avoid taking photos with strong evidence of human impact, so no cars, planes, light poles (if they are too obvious), modern buildings etc. I placed some of my photos as placeholders in the foder and I will remove them once the specific location is open for uploads.
Here are some of the locations from the journey: The Shire, Bree / Bree-land, Rivendell, Moria, Fangorn, Rohan, Mordor etc.
Hey guys,
I just wanted to inform you about something that I just realized about „stash“ on Deviantart. So everytime you upload stash (a photo, screenshot, a painting etc.) it is accessable to everybody, who might guess the generated URL (web adress). Even if you used stash to send a photo to somebody particular in a chat or note. So in other words if bots (like google crawlers) but more of other companies/criminals guess this URL they can see whatever you've uploaded. So this might just be a cute cat photo or a drawing, but maybe your photo contains info about you or is something you don't want everybody to see. So I just cleared all my stash documents...xD
The second thing I've seen is that you can literally upload everything (except of .exe-files)...so in other words HTML-code, Word documents or files that you might not be able to verify as secure. There is a reason why many platforms don't allow all kinds of files...they usually allow photos...thats it. In other words...I won't open any stash links or documents from now on. This might be of interest for you...or maybe not. Take care! =)
I was pretty sure that many would like to participate, but not even a single person commented hahaha. Do we really not have any LotR fans here, who like to have fun with this fan journey? ->
Another social media site, but apparantly no algorithm and adverts. Say hello if you like! 😉
